Your temporomandibular joints (TMJs) play a crucial role in your daily life. They allow you to open and close your mouth effortlessly. When these joints become inflamed or irritated, even the simplest actions like chewing can become uncomfortable ordeals.
Our state-of-the-art TMJ treatment offers a solution to this discomfort. Using cutting-edge digital scanning technology, your dentist will create tooth impressions without messy trays of goop. These precise scans are used to craft your custom TMJ appliance. This appliance is designed to:
Provide Nighttime Relief – You will wear the bite guard while you sleep. The appliance gently repositions your lower jaw, easing tension on your TMJs. Its comfortable design ensures minimal adjustment time.
Protect Your Dental Health – By preventing teeth grinding and jaw clenching, you will protect your tooth enamel. This proactive approach can prevent the need for future dental work. It may also reduce headaches and other symptoms often associated with TMJ issues.
Be Simple to Maintain – Care of your appliance is as simple as brushing with mild soap and water.
Your dentist may also recommend clear aligner treatment for long-term relief. Orthodontic problems can often trigger TMJ issues. If that’s the case, your dentist will determine whether our clear aligner options are right for you.
I’ve been a patient of Dr Ruiz for several years. The staff is very friendly & helpful. My hygienist, Heather is gentle, thorough, & very pleasant. Dr Ruiz is the absolute best dentist; he’s gentle, reassuring & I know I can call him if I have any issues. A few years ago I had an implant by Dr Ruiz & he gave me his cell number & told me to call him if I had any problems. He’s just really caring! I can’t speak highly enough about Drum Point Family & Implant Dentistry.
I was an emergency “walk in” and I was treated like I was their most important patient. When I called out of the blue to request emergency care, Lori made sure I would be taken care of. She said she would get back to me by the end of the day. Sometime before 2:00 pm she called and told me I had an appointment for 10:00 am the next morning. I’m sure she have gotten me in sooner if I were in pain. I filled out the forms on line and saved a lot of time. I arrived at 9:50 and was in the chair by 10:00. I am approaching 80 and Dr. Ruiz is the best dentist who ever treated me. He knew what he was doing, asked me regularly how I was doing, explained what he was doing and why he was doing it. Plus, he is likable.
I would highly recommend Drumpoint Family Dentistry – and I have recommended them! The staff is always friendly and helpful. Dr Ruiz is very personable yet professional. He explains what issues I have and what procedures need to be done. He has always taken the best care in treating me and my family. The hygenist, Heather, is also quite skilled and a pleasure to be with.
This is a very friendly, family oriented practice. Dr. Ruiz is a very skilled and professional dentist. He thoroughly explains his treatment plan and makes you feel very comfortable during your visit. It has been a pleasure to meet all of his staff. I would highly recommend.
Me and my entire family have been going to Drum Point Family and Implant Dentistry for over 24 years and have always received the BEST care! Dr. Ruiz and his staff are at the top of their game!
Dr. R is the best and the office staff and dental assistants are very professional people. I actually don’t like to go to the dentist but my experience with this office has always been very good and I don’t mind going into see my dentist so much anymore. I think they have done some very good work on my teeth and highly recommended the doctor and the entire office staff.
I have been with Drum Point Family Dentistry for as long as I can remember. I think it is close to 20 years. I have always felt comfortable with everyone and have always received the best care. I trust no other dentist!!!!
Dr. Hanna explained the problem I’ve been having with my teeth and told me my options. He explained in a way I completely understood. The entire staff was very helpful and friendly. I give them all a well deserved 5 stars!
My family has been going here for about 15 years; and we have always had a great experience with the dentists and hygienists. It’s a small, warm and welcoming office where we are always greeted with a smile. Shout out to Heather, who has been with my kids since they were just getting their teeth, and who are now heading off to college!
I had major dental surgery. I admit I was concerned over the extent and recovery. I am pleased to share that Dr. Ruiz and his staff helped me to understand what to expect, prepared me for what I would experience, and most importantly, completed this extensive dental work with precision, care, and compassion. Other than the length of time in the chair, I barely felt anything during surgery! I recommend drum point family dentistry to anyone!!!!
Common Questions About TMJ Treatment
How long does TMJ treatment take? +–
We understand you want to end the pain caused by a TMJ disorder as soon as you can. The truth is that treatment can take weeks or months, depending on the severity of your situation and what needs to be done. For most patients, an oral appliance is the perfect solution in and of itself. For others, orthodontics may be needed to realign teeth for the long term.
Is TMJ causing my headaches? +–
It’s possible, yes. Inflammation of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) can lead to pain in the surrounding muscles of the head and neck, which can be misinterpreted as migraines. By wearing a mouthguard, you can alleviate the pain caused by TMJ inflammation and potentially experience relief from headaches.
Will insurance pay for my TMJ treatment? +–
Your insurance may pay for a portion of the cost of your TMJ treatment. We recommend you check with your carrier to determine what they will and won’t cover. We’ll work with your insurance to maximize your benefits and ensure that your out-of-pocket cost is minimal. Our team wants you to get the help you need to feel better.
